Foot-Passenger Crossings
Prefer to leave the car at home? Great — foot travel is quick and convenient.

Portsmouth Harbour → Ryde Pier Head (Wightlink FastCat)
Southsea → Ryde (Hovercraft — the fastest crossing)
Southampton → East Cowes (Red Funnel)
Tickets can be pre-booked or purchased at the port.
Travelling by Train (London Waterloo → Shanklin)
If you prefer a smooth, fuss-free journey, travelling by train is one of the easiest ways to reach us.
You can leave London Waterloo and arrive in Shanklin with just one simple change — no complicated routes, no long waits.
Here’s how it works:
1. London Waterloo → Portsmouth Harbour
Direct trains run regularly throughout the day.
Journey time is usually 1 hour 30 mins – 2 hours.
2. Walk a few minutes to the ferry terminal
When you get off the train at Portsmouth Harbour, the Wightlink FastCat is just a short, level walk along the platform. It’s fast, easy, and well signposted.
3. FastCat Ferry → Ryde Pier Head
The crossing takes around 22 minutes.
4. Island Line Train → Shanklin
At Ryde Pier Head you simply step onto the Island Line train — it’s right outside the ferry terminal.
The journey to Shanklin is about 25 minutes, and Shanklin is the final stop, so you can relax.
5. Arriving in Shanklin
